How does it work?

Most common scales formed in the industry are CaCO3 and CaSO4.
Threshold scale inhibitors prevent the scale deposition by blocking the active growth site of the crystal that is precipitating.

Polycarboxylates anti-scaling agents specifically adsorb on the crystal surface and prevent its growth, modify the crystal shape and make it more difficult to agglomerate.
These polymers can also be used as dispersing agents.
